Homeopathy Headaches Remedies and Cures

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

by Amy Cantwell

Millions of people are affected by headaches daily. Headaches brought on by stress, migraines, sinus problems dietary deficiency, and even dental problems can greatly impact your quality of life. The effectiveness of conventional medicines eventually fades, and they only cover up symptoms anyway. Overuse of over the counter pain relievers can cause a tolerance in your body so that they will no longer be as effective at alleviating headaches.

Not surprisingly, many headache sufferers are turning to homeopathy for headaches. Homeopathic treatments are effective, natural ways of getting your body to heal itself and encourage optimum health. Homeopathy for headaches includes homeopathic medicines as well as non-medicine treatments like stress relief, dietary changes, exercise, getting more sleep, and drinking more water.

Homeopathy for headaches works because it allows the body to work out its own cures to a problem which has become chronic. The medicines taken by the sufferer actually induce the same symptoms that the sufferer wants to clear up, so that the body will be compelled to invoke its healing abilities to get rid of the symptoms. This can result in a long-term reduction in symptoms, as well as some measure of immediate relief.

Homeopathic treatments or medications for homeopathy for headaches can be found from a homeopathic health practitioner, health food and supplement stores, and from some homeopathic supply dealers. If you are looking in a health food or supplement store, you may see bottles of supplements labeled as “headache relief,” “migraine support,” or similar names. These capsules often contain the same type of homeopathic medicines that are given individually or in specific combinations by homeopathic health practitioners.

However, in order to ensure that you are taking a product that will benefit your specific type of headache, it may be beneficial to ask a homeopathic health practitioner to look at the ingredients for you. If you decide to go with a more personalized treatment, homeopathy for headaches is easy to accomplish with just a basic working knowledge of homeopathy medicines. Most homeopathy books contain a headache section that will help you choose the correct medicines for headache relief.

With homeopathic remedies for a headache, just like with all homeopathic treatment, what works for one person may not work for the next. You may have to experiment with treatments and medicines to see what works best for you. When you do, you will be amazed at how great it feels to get through entire days without worrying about headaches.

Diabetes Signs

Is pre-diabetes the same thing as metabolic syndrome or syndrome X?
Pre-diabetes shares a number of factors with metabolic syndrome and syndrome x, and if unchecked can lead to type 2 diabetes. When it comes to the OGTT test, a person’s blood glucose is measured after a fast and 2 hours after a drink rich in glucose. Normal levels are under 140 mg/dl 2 hours after the drink. 140 to 199 mg/dl 2 hours after the drink means that the person being tested has pre-diabetes.

What is pre-diabetes? Can that cause peripheral neuropathy?
It is well-known that diabetic patients frequently develop peripheral neuropathy. Today, doctors are exploring a link between peripheral neuropathy and pre-diabetes (also known as impaired glucose tolerance or IGT). An estimated 20 million people in the US have what is being called “pre-diabetes” or “borderline diabetes” a condition where the body has higher than normal blood sugar levels, but not high enough to be diagnosed as true diabetes.Treatment consists of losing a modest amount of weight (5-10 percent of total body weight) through diet and moderate exercise, such as walking, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Don’t worry if you can’t get to your ideal body weight.

Why is it essential to be diagnosed if I think I might have pre-diabetes?
It could be possible to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes if you find out about your pre-diabetes early enough. Research indicates that people who have pre-diabetes can delay or prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes by almost 60 per cent with adjustments to diet and exercise. Reducing weight by ten per cent, and partaking in modest physical activity for 30 minutes daily, could reduce the chance of developing type 2 diabetes.Pre-diabetes occurs when blood glucose levels exceed normal levels but do not climb high enough to warrant a diagnosis of diabetes.

What do you need to score on the FPG test to be diagnosed with pre-diabetes?
A normal fasting blood glucose level is below 100 mg/dl - between 100 and 125 mg/dl a person has pre-diabetes. If the blood glucose level rises to 126 mg/dl or above, a person has diabetes.Pre-diabetes occurs when blood glucose levels exceed normal levels but do not climb high enough to warrant a diagnosis of diabetes. If pre-diabetes is left untreated it will quickly develop into type 2 diabetes, usually in less than ten years.

Should children be screened for pre-diabetes?
We are not recommending screening children for pre-diabetes because we don’t have enough evidence that type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed in children at high risk for the disease. However, a study published in the March 14, 2002, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine found 25 percent of very obese children and 21 percent of very obese adolescents had pre-diabetes. If future studies show that early intervention also works for children, a recommendation could be forthcoming.Pre-diabetes occurs when blood glucose levels exceed normal levels but do not climb high enough to warrant a diagnosis of diabetes.

What is the treatment for pre-diabetes?
Treatment consists of losing a modest amount of weight (5-10 percent of total body weight) through diet and moderate exercise, such as walking, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Don’t worry if you can’t get to your ideal body weight. A loss of just 10 to 15 pounds can make a huge difference. To treat pre-diabetes, it is necessary to lose a modest amount of weight (approximately 5-10 per cent of total body weight.) This can be achieved through diet and modest exercise. Any weight loss can make a huge difference. Having pre-diabetes increases the risk of heart disease or stroke.

Cold Sore Treatment For Your Stubborn Cold Sores

Friday, October 24th, 2008

by Denny Bodoh

Want a great cold sore treatment? How about several of the most powerful and time proved cold sore treatment tactics available today? Read this article now and you will enjoy amazing relief in just minutes.

Cold sore treatment is a must for thousands of people every single day. With such a demand, you will find many different choices in your local store for treating a cold sore.

Most store-bought cold sore treatment products are best used for comfort. And they do a good job for that purpose.

In spite of some wild claims, you should not expect these cold sore remedy products to shorten or cure your sore.

Although there are many cold sore treatment ideas floating around, here are four that have been proven to work for nearly everyone, every time.

1. GARLIC. Garlic is one of the oldest and most powerful healing herbs known. It is a very effective internal, as well as external, cold sore treatment. Under a microscope, germs actually flee from garlic.

Use fresh garlic whenever possible. It is many times more potent for treating a cold sore. If you want something more convenient, you can use garlic oil and fresh garlic powder. Remember fresh is best.

Cut or crush a fresh garlic clove and rub it right on the sore. This is an excellent cold sore treatment during any stage of the sore. Apply garlic oil to the scab to help prevent cracking.

You would be wise to take garlic internally during your cold sores. Chop up a clove and put on a salad. You can also use garlic powder on a variety of foods.

Garlic does leave you with a strong odor that you may not care for. If so, give the odorless garlic supplements a try. They are not as strong, but will help to some degree.

2. LYSINE. A much talked about cold sore treatment, lysine works well for many people. It is primarily an internal cold sore treatment. Applied externally, it is not readily absorbed into the cells where it needs to be.

By increasing lysine in your cells, you crowd out the amino acid arginine. Arginine is the primary protein necessary to create new herpes virus. Without enough arginine, the herpes virus will not be able to replicate and create cold sores.

Eating high lysine foods, or taking lysine capsules, will flood your cells with lysine and cure your cold sores in a hurry.

Lysine as a cold sore treatment, users claim, requires the intake of from 2000 to 6000 milligrams per day. You will have to experiment a bit until you find the right dosage for yourself.

3. ZINC. Noted as the healing mineral, zinc is a strong ally in your fight against cold sores. Zinc beats all types of virus activity.

Look for daily multi-vitamin programs containing a minimum of 15 milligrams of zinc. If your vitamin does not, then change brands.

Zinc is plenty safe, but do not exceed 50 milligrams per day.

You can use certain forms of zinc (zinc sulfate or zinc gluconate) as a topical treatment to shorten the healing period of your cold sores. These two absorb better than most forms of zinc.

4. ALOE VERA HEALING PLANT. The gel within the leaves of an Aloe Vera plant is outstanding for mending skin. It is like skin fertilizer. Apply often to your cold sores beginning as soon as they blossom.

You will have the best success if you use fresh gel from a living plant. You will see bottled gel at the stores but it has lost much of its healing power by the bottling process.

Break off an inch or two of leaf and use the leaf to apply the gel without having to get your fingers in it. Keep some pieces in a plastic bag for later use. It will stay effective for a couple days this way.

There are other cold sore treatment tactics but these tips will surely be of help to you right now.

Don’t hesitate to try other cold sore treatment ideas. You are unique and one may work better than another. No one is the same this way. I guarantee you will find exactly what you are looking for in a cold sore treatment.

Signs of Genital Herpes Outbreaks

Friday, October 24th, 2008

by John Bear

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). It is very common–more than 50 million Americans have genital herpes virus. It is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus. There are two types of herpes simplex viruses that can cause herpes. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) primarily causes oral herpes (cold sores). Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) primarily causes genital herpes. Both types are nasty - you do not want to catch either variety.

Even though HSV-1 causes the majority of oral herpes cases and HSV-2 causes the majority of genital herpes cases, both of these viruses can cause oral herpes, genital herpes, or both.

Once a person gets the genital herpes virus, it stays in their body for life.

What occurs if and when someone has an outbreak of the genital herpes virus?

With recurrent genital herpes, symptoms can soon come and go. When the herpes virus symptoms appear from time to time, it is called a “herpes outbreak.” Between outbreaks, when the virus is not present on the skin surface, the herpes virus is inactive and when reactivated, it travels to the skin in the genital area. An outbreak usually begins with a warning prodrome. Then, redness, bumps, and blisters may appear. The blisters can burst open and cause sores. There may be just one red, itchy blister or several.

What is a prodrome?

A prodrome is the first stage of an outbreak when you feel symptoms such as pain, burning, itching, tingling, or tenderness. Remember, this is the time to start treatment if you are treating episodically.
