I recognize this is challenging to do, because you would not develop anxiety attacks in the first place if you could relax. Nonetheless you could do it whenever you calm down and instruct your psyche to relax.

Typically ahead of an anxiety attacks, you would find discomfited and there are some signs and symptoms that I have discussed in other articles on my websites. At this level make yourself physically relax. Loosen up your shirt and tie if you have one. Do whatever you can just to make yourself relax.

Find yourself a place to sit down but do not lie down, hold your hand straight over some back up. Breathe slowly and deeply. Relieve yourself when you take a breath out

At this period clear up your mind from any thought surrounding you. Assure yourself that you are in a peaceful situations exactly like you are resting on a couch in your living room. Your body will block sending off any sign that stimulate the anxiety to the adrenal glands.

The third step is to acknowledge your situation.

If you accept the condition that what you are experiencing is just a recurring panic or anxiety attack, then it will be easier for you to take a better precautions in the future.

Alternative Cancer Treatment - The How of Breast Self-Exam?

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

by www.thealternativecancertreatment.com

Overall, about 1 in 12 women will contract breast cancer at some age, with the odds higher later in life. But thanks to modern medicine, many breast cancers can be successfully treated with only minor impact. However, the success of that treatment depends critically on early detection, and the earlier the better. One simple way to up the odds of discovery is to perform a regular breast self examination.

The purpose of breast self examination is early detection of changes that might signal a condition that needs further investigation by either a professional clinical exam, mammogram or other diagnostic tool. Any changes could potentially indicate an abnormality. But to be able to determine what is abnormal one must know what is normal. Normal varies from individual to individual even though there are commonalities.

The first element to a proper self-exam is to know what your own breasts feel and look like in general. Every aspect of the body changes in subtle ways on a regular basis. During the menstrual cycle those changes may be exaggerated. Breasts can become enlarged or more sensitive. Start your self-exam a few days after your period every month so it becomes a habit. For post-menopausal women, choose the same day every month to perform the exam.

Stand in front of a mirror unclothed and make a visual inspection. Look for changes in the size of only one breast. Normal menstrual cycles and other hormonally related variation will usually affect both the same. Look for any changes in size or color of the nipple or areola (the darker skin around the nipple). Note any wrinkling or ‘orange peel’ appearance that is not due to cold temperature. Most areola are round. Look for any lack of symmetry.

Squeeze a nipple gently and note any fluid that comes out. Some lactation is normal in some women. But yellowish, pus-like fluid is a reason to call your physician for a closer look. It may be a simple infection or it could be an early sign of a developing tumor. Repeat the procedure for the other nipple.

Continue to observe the breast looking for tumors. Make sure and feel the entire surface of the breasts with your arms lowered. Don’t just observe the surface from the breastbone to the side, but also up toward the armpit as well. Press the breasts firmly with the finger pas and move the hand slowly trying to feel for any thickening or lumps in the breast.

A lump could be nothing more than a simple cyst which is a fluid filled tissue sac. Often cysts are round and palpable. They are typically benign even though you might want to have them removed. Cysts usually fade spontaneously over time.

Cancerous lumps are typically harder and less regular in shape. They are usually attached to an individual’s breast tissue. Not all hard lumps should be immediately deemed cancerous, so don’t be unnecessarily alarmed. Most are simply what are called fibroadenomas- which are merely benign clumps of cells. Professional tests are necessary in order to know for sure.

Be particularly aware of any lumps which change in size. Cancer is a malignant, uncontrolled growth of cells in tissue. As such, cancer tumors don’t remain static but increase in size and, later, may spread to other parts of the body.

Continue your self-exam by raising the arms over your head and applying pressure all the way from the breastbone to the armpit again. Make sure you do this on both sides and breasts.

Perform the procedure again while lying down, first with the arms lowered, then raised overhead. Again try to feel any changes, especially tissue which has become hard. The procedure can be repeated in the shower in order to lower friction on the skin, but it can sometimes be difficult to find changes or lumps with water beating on your skin. Try baby oil instead.

Women age 20 and over should be performing breast self-exams on a regular basis, and women over 40 should get a mammogram annually.

Eczema : What Are The Symptoms and Causes of Children’s Eczema

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

by Ray Lam

Eczema sufferers are believed to have a problem with their immune system which causes the condition but as yet no-one has discovered how this occurs. This skin complaint is usually triggered by an adverse reaction to a substance, foodstuff or chemical etc. Although eczema can occur on many parts of the body, with baby eczema, it is usually first noticed on their face. In the United Sates of America, up to one in every five infants will be affected by this skin condition.

In the majority of these cases, the condition resolves by the time they reach two years of age. A small percentage of children will not be this fortunate and will experience this condition when they are adults and it will sometimes become a chronic complaint. Almost anyone can be affected by this problem at any time in their life but it is babies that are most likely to suffer. Unfortunately most people have suffered with this since they were at least five years of age but around 33 percent will have contracted the condition by the time they reached their first birthday.

The most common type in babies is atopic eczema and this type of baby eczema is characterized by itching, and red, scaly skin on the scalp, face, arms or legs. Atopic eczema often runs in families, and can be triggered when a baby’s skin isn’t moisturized properly. In some babies, wearing clothes that have been washed in certain detergents or treated with fabric softeners may trigger the condition. Some recent research has indicated that baby eczema may caused by babies that are weaned early so breastfeeding for a longer period be beneficial.

Other medical conditions, such as respiratory infections, may also act as triggers. It has also been found that if the baby’s mother has asthma, they are more prone to suffer with this condition but other contributing elements include food allergies and allergic rhinitis. The number of childhood cases where food is responsible for the condition is considerable at almost 30 percent; discovering the foodstuffs responsible should be a relatively simple matter, which once this is done, can be removed from the diet completely. Although the process of diagnosing which food is responsible is often a case of trial an error, there are some that are often found as the cause including:

*Marine foods including shellfish *Cream and other milk products *Bread *Products containing eggs *Meals or foodstuffs where peanuts have been used in the preparation

Baby eczema is often the result of antibiotics given to the baby when it is born, as many doctors will attest. Infants, in particular babies with the condition need to be washed gently in lukewarm water using proprietary lubricating creams. Once they have dried, they need to be dressed in soft natural clothing made from cotton. A baby’s nails should be kept short or covered with mittens to prevent itchy skin from becoming further damaged or infected from excessive scratching. Unfortunately, baby eczema sometimes needs further help and in these cases, the doctor might prescribe the use of antihistamines to relieve the itching; steroid creams can also be used for a short period to help heal the skin. In babies, despite being very common, it is still a difficult condition to treat and conquer.
